Public Shelter - Per-Animal Cost Analysis

As an open-admission public shelter, we are looking to improve our budgeting and cost accounting to better plan cash flow and fund-raising efforts. We're looking to build an Excel sheet that shows per-animal costs for all direct services - Intake, daily care, routine medical care, and outcomes. Does anyone have such a worksheet they'd be willing to share? Thanks.

Our local municipal shelter is going through an audit and the Phase 2 report has some useful metrics comparing our shelter with comparable shelters in other states and cities. You might find some of these references useful. =) http://www.cityauditorlauradoud.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/Animal-Care-Services-Phase-Two.pdf

Really well written report, thank you. Perhaps I missed it, but out of curiosity, what year are the stats from other locations taken from?

I agree that the report is well-written and informative. Since the first few charts reference 2016, I'm assuming the remaining charts are based on that year's data.

Thank you! I'll review this and see what we can use.
